The Switch
One switch. Two natures. Digital speed, physical finality.
The digital half moves at machine speed across every lifeforce vector. The physical half guarantees that when a human says stop, no software in the world gets a vote.
Half one — Digital
The Severance Console
A signed command fans out over an out-of-band channel to power controllers, schedulers, firewalls, DNS, key vaults and storage. Compute is drained, egress is closed, credentials are revoked, checkpoints are sealed and replicas are marked — all in the same instant, so nothing survives to re-seed itself.
- Simultaneous multi-vector execution
- Scoped cuts: one agent, one fleet, or everything
- Shadow mode for rehearsal without impact
- Every action signed to a named human
Half two — Physical
The Sentinel Interlock
Hardwired relays and mechanical latches sit on the breakers, busbars, cooling loops and fibre trunks that keep the machine alive. The AI cannot see them, cannot address them and cannot re-close them. When the lever falls, the current stops being a negotiation.
- Mechanically latched open — firmware cannot reset it
- Air-gapped controller with no inbound network
- Dual-key custody, tamper-evident seal
- Fails to OFF on any loss of signal or power

Sentinel Mk.II
Built to be understood at a glance and trusted in the dark.
Amber means the AI is drawing lifeforce. Cyan means it has been contained. There is no third state, no ambiguous dialog, no update that changes the meaning of the lever. A stranger under stress can read this device correctly on their first encounter.
- Severance latency (digital)
- < 800 ms across all vectors
- Severance latency (physical)
- < 3 s from key turn to latched open
- Authority model
- Two-person, hardware key + signed identity
- Network dependency
- None — physical path is fully air-gapped
- Fail state
- Open (AI off) on power, signal or quorum loss
- Restore
- Dual-key, logged, staged vector-by-vector
- Audit
- Append-only signed ledger, external read channel
- Environment
- -20 °C to 60 °C, IP65 enclosure options
